Doomben Cup favourite arrives in Brisbane

Wednesday 17 May 2017, 7:27am

Doomben Cup favourite Articus has arrived in Brisbane after securing a place on a flight from Melbourne.

Articus and his Darren Weir-trained stablemate Star Exhibit, who will also run in Saturday's Group One Doomben Cup, got on a cargo flight in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Weir has several other Brisbane carnival contenders booked on flights north this week but they are subject to being bumped off for other cargo.

There is no air transport specifically for horses and Weir did not want to take his team by road after El Divino and Sooboog had to be scratched from last Saturday's Doomben 10,000 with travel sickness.
