While most of the attention will be on Winx at Randwick, the filly who lives in the box next door to the great mare will be out to make some Group One history of her own.

Foxplay is the second favourite behind Melbourne mare Silent Sedition in the Coolmore Legacy on Saturday.

Her trainer Chris Waller decided late last week to send Foxplay to the 1600m-race rather than press on to the Oaks (2400m) on the same program.

Foxplay's race comes 80 minutes after Winx runs in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes, aiming for her 17th consecutive win.

The filly was an unlucky fourth in the Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) when she suffered interference inside the final 50 metres with Waller believing she could have at least run into third place had she not been impeded.

"She's terrific and has done well since the race," Waller said.

"But she hasn't really liked the heavy tracks and that made us decide against the 2400 metres of the Oaks.

"If she goes as well as we think she will, she may progress to Queensland.

"She lives in the box next to Winx and they are friends. They went to Melbourne together last year.

"And there are similarities between them in their early years."

Stablemate Elle Lou is an outsider in the Coolmore Legacy but Waller believes she deserves her place in the field.

"She has won on the track at the distance and deserves her chance at Group One black type but it won't be easy," he said.

Kerrin McEvoy rides Foxplay while James Doyle is on Elle Lou who finished seventh over 1900 metres after winning the Group Three Aspiration Quality (1600m) early last month.

The Andrew Noblet-trained Silent Sedition goes into the race after breaking her Group One duck in the William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley after her close second in the Coolmore Classic.
