Young trainer Ben Hull has elected to take an easier path with Timeless Prince as he attempts to coax another win out of the stakes winning sprinter.

Hull has taken over the training of Timeless Prince from NSW Central Coast trainer Tony Newing who prepared the gelding for 11 wins.

But Timeless Prince has not won in 12 starts since last year's Sunshine Coast Cup which he claimed after a controversial stewards' protest.

Timeless Prince was entered for the Listed Sunshine Coast Cup again on Saturday but Hull elected to run him in a 1200m-Benchmark 85 race.

"Tony had him up here for a race at the Gold Coast three weeks ago and he ran a good fifth to Eckstein. He probably should have finished a bit closer," Hull said.

"Tony felt he was probably going to struggle in Sydney. I have known Tony for years as I am originally from the Central Coast and he decided to leave him with me to see if I can get a win.

"At this stage the benchmark race does seem the better option for him.

"Timeless Prince is very good in the wet and if it rains up here he is up to winning an open race later."

Hull, who is the partner of jockey Tegan Harrison, works a team of eight horses and his past 10 runners have produced three wins and six minor placings.

"I was apprenticed to Rob Heathcote and rode about 15 winners for him but my weight got away from me," Hull said.

"I had always wanted to train and I have gradually built up my team but I would obviously like a few more.

"It is a seven day a week job but I am loving it. I ride most of my own work so I have an idea of how they are going."
