Wicklow Brave to revert to jumping

Tuesday 10 January 2017, 8:11am

Melbourne Cup disappointment Wicklow Brave could revert to hurdles and may run at the Cheltenham Festival.

The 2015 County Hurdle winner gave trainer Willie Mullins his first Classic success on the Flat when he won the Irish St Leger at the Curragh in September.

But he finished with the tailenders in the Melbourne Cup as a $16 chance under Frankie Dettori.

"He is absolutely fine and I'm not sure what we're going to do with him yet," owner Nick Peacock said: .

"It's a possibility he may turn up at Cheltenham. If he doesn't go there I suppose we could look at the Yorkshire Cup or something like that.

"I think he's been entered for the race in Dubai (Gold Cup), but I'm not sure about that.

"The ground is very fast at Meydan and I think Wicklow prefers a bit of cut."
