Innes cops ban for winning ride on Embley

Saturday 24 December 2016, 6:11pm

James Innes' win on Embley has taken him to the top of the Sydney apprentice jockeys' premiership but his celebrations have been cut short by a suspension for the ride.

Stewards gave him a four-meeting ban after determining Embley had shifted in and caused interference to Deanne Panya's mount More Than Fabulous at Rosehill on Saturday.

Embley's win took Innes to level pegging with Panya on 10 wins at the top of the junior riding ranks.

It was his fifth careless riding suspension for the year and will keep him sidelined from New Year's Day until the Saturday meeting at Warwick Farm on January 7.
