Madeenaty looking for Wyong-Gold Coast set

Wednesday 21 December 2016, 5:04pm

Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic favourite Madeenaty is aiming to be the third horse the race's 15-year history to win the NSW lead-up and the grand final on the Gold Coast.

If the two-year-old filly can win Thursday's $200,000 race over 1100m at Wyong, she will join last year's winner Capitalist and Karuta Queen who did the double in 2009-10.

The David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig-trained Madeenaty is $2.10 to win at Wyong and the $6 top pick to take the main chunk of the $2 million purse on offer at the Gold Coast on January 14.

If the market is correct, at $775,000, she will be the most expensive horse to win either race.

One of the horses given an outside chance to beat her at Wyong is the Chris Waller-trained Madame Moustache, an $11 hope.

The winner of a 1000m-race at Randwick in October, Madame Moustache finished fourth in a barrier trial at Randwick on December 13, behind the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Dinnigan who is a $3.50 chance to win on debut.

Madame Moustache's trainer Chris Waller has enlisted Brenton Avdulla who gets the chance to continue his strong form from barrier two.

"I was happy with her trial. We didn't ask her to do too much," Waller said.

"She's drawn well and should run well."
