Soul Stirring first G1 winner for Frankel

Monday 12 December 2016, 6:25am

Soul Stirring has become the first progeny of Frankel to win at Group One level, taking out the Hanshin Juvenile Fillies in Japan.

The filly, out of French Oaks winner Stacelita, is trained by Kazuo Fujisawa for the Shadai Race Horse Co Ltd and she cruised to the front 200m out in Saturday's 1600m-race.

Christophe Lemaire only had to push out Soul Stirring to score a relatively comfortable length-and-a-quarter verdict.

Lemaire was delighted with Soul Stirring's victory and believes the filly will get further than a mile in the future.

"I'm ecstatic. It's so special because I used to also ride her dam Stacelita and Soul Stirring is out of her and by that great horse Frankel," Lemaire said.

"I was confident from the beginning and we were in a good position and she was relaxed.

"She easily hit the front at the stretch and with her big strides and stamina, I think she can go a little bit further in distance
