* NSW Premier Mike Baird: Wicklow Brave.

* Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews: "Jameka. The only Australian-bred horse in the Cup and trained right here in Victoria coming off a win in the Caulfield Cup."

* Victorian Opposition Leader Matthew Guy: "The leader of the opposition likes Hartnell."

* Melbourne Lord Mayor Robert Doyle: "I saw one called Oceanographer run on Saturday and win the Lexus Stakes. It was such an impressive win I'm going to go for Oceanographer."
