Tommy Berry suspended for Derby ride

Sydney jockey Tommy Berry has been outed for careless riding on Swear in the Victoria Derby, with his suspesnion to begin after he rides Japanese horse Curren Mirotic in the Melbourne Cup.

Swear finished fifth in Saturday's Derby, which was won by Prized Icon whose jockey, Glyn Schofield, was fined $500 for celebrating a little too soon.

Schofield was riding at the Flemington meeting on a stay of proceedings pending an appeal against a careless riding suspension from Warwick Farm on October 19.
