Trainer Steve O'Dea's great association with broodmare Kiss Me Katy continued when two-year-old Dream Kisses earned a Magic Millions Classic start with her Eagle Farm win.

Dream Kisses ($2.90) overcame a bump in the straight to beat Acceptile ($17) by 1-1/4 lengths with the Tiara Star ($2.70) third on Saturday.

However, Jeff Lloyd who rode Tiara Star, claimed she had been checked after interference by Acceptile to another runner Wirraway and he protested.

Stewards upheld the protest and Tiara Star was promoted to second.

O'Dea has had a long association with Dream Kisses's dam Kiss Me Katy who was the trainer's first winner when he moved from Townsville 10 years ago.

Both Kiss Me Katy and Dream Kisses are owned by Burdekin breeder Joe Rapisarda who has been a mainstay of the O'Dea stable.

"My dad Graham trained for Joe for many years and when I came down here he gave me Kiss Me Katy who was a more than handy two-year-old," O'Dea said.

"She has also been a good broodmare with her other runners including the smart The Last Kiss."

Dream Kisses, who is by Dream Ahead, went through the ring at the Magic Millions sales earlier this year and is eligible for the 2YO Classic in January.

"She has earned about $51,000 in prize money already and that should be well and truly enough to get her into the Millions," O'Dea said.

"It means we can chart a course to suit ourselves and not have to worry about qualifying."

O'Dea said there was no doubt Dream Kisses would run a strong 1200m and that she would improve.

"She copped a bump today in the backwash of the interference to Tiara Star but was able to overcome it which is the sign of a good horse," he said.
