Weir duo dominate Makybe Diva betting

Tuesday 6 September 2016, 6:13am

Black Heart Bart is a dominant favourite to claim the second Group One race of the spring in Melbourne although there has been solid early support for his stablemate Palentino.

The Darren Weir-trained pair head the market for the Makybe Diva Stakes at Flemington on Saturday.

Black Heart Bart, a first-up winner of the Group One Memsie Stakes at Caulfield on August 27, is at $2.20 with Palentino firming from $11 to $6 since markets opened on Monday.

Palentino finished a respectable fifth behind his stablemate at Caulfield at his last start.

Rising Romance opened second favourite on the strength of her good first-up second in the Memsie but has eased from $7 to $8.

With just 14 nominations received for the race, entries have been extended until 10am on Tuesday.

Of the 14 entries, eight are Group One winners including the three market leaders and Tarzino, Our Ivanhowe, Sofia Rosa, Happy Trails and Melbourne Cup winner Prince Of Penzance.
