Noel Callow to front stewards

Monday 29 August 2016, 1:48pm

Jockey Noel Callow will front Victorian stewards before he is allowed to ride again following an incident at Kuala Lumpur Airport.

Callow was reportedly detained by immigration authorities after presenting the wrong passport when he tried to leave Malaysia on August 18.

RV chief steward Terry Bailey said Callow, who was a no-show at Cranbourne on Sunday, would not be able to ride until they interviewed him.

"I have advised his manager that he is not to accept any rides for him until we get an explanation from Mr Callow of the situation," Bailey told racing.com.

"Advice has been received from Malaysian stewards today who indicated that he had been detained by authorities over presenting the wrong passport when attempting to board a plane, and that he had two passports on him.

"That is all we know at this stage but he will not be permitted to ride until this situation gets sorted out."

The Malay Mail Online said after an intoxicated 41-year-old was reportedly found with two Australian passports he then had an altercation with security staff.

The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade confirmed it was providing consular assistance to an Australian man detained in Malaysia.

Callow has ridden extensively in Australia and Asia, winning the 2007 Singapore premiership.

More recently he won the 2015 Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes on The Cleaner.
