The Housemaid Cleans Up For Anacheeva

Chatswood Stud freshman Anacheeva has broken through for his first winner on the final day of the season at Pakenham.

His 2yo filly The Housemaid had put the writing on the wall at Cranbourne and Geelong prior to a gutsy, half-head victory over Kaptive Hero in the Pakenham Produce Maiden Plate (1400m) on Sunday.

“She had a comfortable run and really pinned her ears back when the inside horse came again,” jockey Ben Allen said.  “She hit the line hard and looks a nice type going forward.”

The Housemaid (2f Anacheeva – Arrivez Meme by Get Square) is bred to get further with more experience.  She’s the first foal from an unraced daughter of Moonstruck (Shirley Heights) who won over 2500m at Deauville.

She was retained by Victorian breeder Mike Graham after bidding failed to reach a $20,000 reserve at the 2015 Inglis VOBIS Gold yearling sale.  He sold her yearling brother to Lauriston Park’s James O’Brien at Oaklands in April and the colt has been catalogued for the Inglis Ready2Race Sale in Sydney on October 4.

“The Housemaid was placed behind Artie Dee Two at Geelong last time and he came out and won again at Moonee Valley,” trainer Archie Alexander said.  “She’s on the small side but with a lovely nature and Mike’s happy he didn’t let her go cheaply.

“I like her and she could be a lot better than we originally thought.”

Anacheeva (Anabaa) won the G1 Caulfield Guineas in 2010 and his second-crop yearlings sold to $70,000 earlier this year.  Chatswood Stud has kept his service fee at $6,600 (inc gst).
