Kemp hopes weight favours Sold For Song

A weight advantage could be the key to Sold For Song turning the tables on Tsaritsa when they meet again at Eagle Farm.

The Chris Waller-trained Tsaritsa won the Queensland Guineas last Saturday week with Sold For Song running home strongly for third when she raced at the back of the field after drawing the outside barrier.

Both Sold For Song and Tsaritsa were entered for the Group One Tatt's Tiara on Saturday but will instead clash in the Listed Daybreak Lover Stakes (1400m).

Sold For Song's trainer Kevin Kemp is sure he has made the right decision despite the Daybreak Lover being surprisingly strong.

"Many critics are saying the Daybreak Lover is the race of the day with not only Sold For Song and Tsaritsa but also good horses such as Perfect Dare, Salmanazar, Shotacross The Bow, Sagaronne etc in the field," Kemp said.

"But we had a good look at the weights and my filly gets in with 54.5kg which means she is getting 2-1/2 kilograms off Tsaritsa. Also in the Tiara she would have been only one kilo under the older mares."

Tsaritsa, who has the inside gate, is the $2 favourite with Sold For Song, who jumps from seven, second pick at $4.40.

"I will tell Jim (Orman) not to push her along too hard but if we can get a bit closer to Tsaritsa in the run we will give her something to worry about," Kemp said.

Kemp is keen to take Sold For Song south for the spring carnivals in Sydney and Melbourne but might give her one more winter run after Saturday.

"Depending on how she pulls up we might go to the Sunshine Coast on Saturday week for one final run this winter. She has raced well at the Sunshine Coast as the big track suits her," he said.
