Act One of what trainer Gabrielle Englebrecht hopes will be a big week has played out to perfection with Cannyescent winning at Randwick.

The three-year-old won over 1100m at Randwick on Tuesday and the Warwick Farm trainer is now looking to Rosehill on Saturday with Aghna in the Group Three Widden Stakes.

The two-year-old filly ran third behind Capitalist in the Wyong Magic Millions with the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained colt going on to win the $2 Million Magic Millions Classic at the Gold Coast to cement his Golden Slipper favouritism.

"It could be a big week," Englebrecht said.

"I could not be happier and I'm really looking forward to Saturday.

"The filly is going really well."

Both Cannyescent and Aghna are owned by Kevin Pitstock who has invested heavily with the stable and will send a $300,000 filly from the Karaka Sale to Englebrecht.

"She is a full sister to Werther who is now racing well in Hong Kong," Englebrecht said.

"I am so grateful for the support. It is a big boost for my stable."

Cannyescent was the $2.05 favourite in his race on Tuesday with Tye Angland steering him along the fence rather than trying to make a run wide where most of the winners had gone.

The ploy worked and Cannyescent beat Bermuda Blu ($81) by a long head.

Englebrecht said he would run next month in the Eskimo Prince Stakes.

Aghna is one of 17 fillies entered for the Widden Stakes (1100m) including the Gai Waterhouse pair Global Glamour and So Serene.

"Global Glamour is also entered for Kembla so I will discuss it with the owners," Waterhouse said.

The Canonbury Stakes for two-year-old colts and geldings attracted just nine entries including Capitalist's stablemate Defcon who is high up in markets for the Blue Diamond Stakes in Melbourne.
