Sydney sprinter Rebel Dane is favourite to join his sire California Dane on the Australia Stakes honour roll at Moonee Valley.
The Gary Portelli-trained Group One winner Rebel Dane holds favouritism at $3.40 for Saturday's Group Two weight-for-age Australia Stakes (1200m) ahead of Standish Handicap winner Durendal at $6.
Rebel Dane's sire California Dane won the corresponding event at Moonee Valley a decade ago when it was called the Norman Carlyon Stakes.
It was renamed the Australia Stakes in 2010.
Rebel Dane is scheduled to travel to Melbourne from Sydney on Thursday.
One of four Group One winners in the 13-horse field, Rebel Dane has barrier six while last year's winner Mourinho jumps from two, Trust In A Gust has the outside gate while Hucklebuck has 11.
