Jockey Grant Buckley has dedicated his Moruya Cup win on O'Reilly's Revenge to the gelding's ailing trainer Bede Murray.

The popular South Coast horseman has been in ill health over the past few weeks, undergoing treatment for cancer diagnosed last year.

The $3.50 favourite, O'Reilly's Revenge forged clear in the straight to beat Jacakaizane by two lengths to give Murray the second of three winners at the meeting.

"I'm so thrilled to ride this winner for Bede," Buckley said.

"It has been a special day.

"Paul Murray told me to switch the horse off early and he was too strong. He just kept grinding away."

The son of Bede and a fellow trainer, Paul Murray said his father would be watching from the couch at home.

"This will make him happy," Murray said.

Buckley also rode the Murray-trained Count Dekroner to win a Class 2 race while Winona Costin was aboard stablemate Chief In Command to bring up her fourth winner for the day.
