Loophole win adds to Tye Angland's pain

Saturday 16 January 2016, 5:42pm

Two wins from his past two starts have given Loophole temporary bragging rights over his younger brother and stablemate Preferment.

Carrying 59kg over 2000 metres on at Randwick on Saturday, Loophole beat Dance Of Heroes by half a length for a Chris Waller-trained quinella.

Glyn Schofield was called up for the ride when Tye Angland had to pull the pin on the meeting after aggravating an old back problem.

While Loophole is unlikely to ever step into the Group One sphere occupied by Preferment, Waller is more than pleased with his off-season form.

"At the moment Preferment is known as Loophole's brother," Waller said.

"It gives me confidence that Loophole is still improving as a six-year-old.

"He will get his chance at a stakes race but not the Australia Day Cup.

"I think he is better over 2000 metres so there is another race in a couple of weeks here and then we will look at the Parramatta Cup over 1900 metres."

Dual Group One winner Preferment is back in work and heading towards the autumn carnival after an unsuccessful trip to Hong Kong for the Cup last month.

"He will be aimed at the Chipping Norton Stakes and the Australian Cup and then Loophole will be known as Preferment's brother again," Waller said.
