Hugh Bowman returns at Randwick

Friday 15 January 2016, 6:57am

Premier jockey Hugh Bowman makes his return to Sydney racing with six rides at Randwick.

Bowman, who won the Epsom Handicap and Cox Plate on Winx in October, took up a contract to ride in Japan for the final two months of 2015.

After a family holiday in Ireland, Bowman returns on Saturday with six rides including the Bjorn Baker-trained Selita, the winner of her past three starts.

Bowman takes over from Adam Hyeronimus who is sidelines with a collarbone injury suffered in a fall at Rosehill.

The winner of the past two Sydney premierships, Bowman will resume his quest for a third in fifth position on 24 wins for the season, 17 behind James McDonald.

Kathy O'Hara has picked up two rides at Randwick for trainer Gary Nickson on Mandalong Kiss and Mandalong Belle with Andrew Banks out for around six weeks with a broken foot after a barrier incident at Thursday's Warwick Farm trials.
