Magic Millions favourite in Randwick trial

Monday 28 December 2015, 1:14pm

Magic Millions favourite Capitalist will be among the horses testing out the troubled Kensington track in barrier trials at Randwick.

The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained colt runs on Tuesday in the third of five heats on the surface which has rarely been used since its re-opening 14 months ago.

The last meeting on the Kensington circuit was in November 2014 although it has been used for trackwork.

The failure of the root system to consolidate caused kick-back from loose thatch.

There are no meetings scheduled this season on the track which was designed to take the pressure off Sydney's other four tracks.

The unbeaten Capitalist will compete in a trial over 850 metres with his stablemate Niccolance in the same heat.

The pair ran one-two in the Wyong Magic Millions earlier this month with Capitalist firming to odds-on after that race to win the $2 million 2YO Classic at the Gold Coast on January 9.

Peter Snowden said the two were in good order and he also hoped to have Mooshakissa in the Gold Coast feature.

"Capitalist is in good order," Snowden said.

"He is doing everything right and came out of the race at Wyong very well.

"Niccolance was also a good run and he is a nice colt."

Flippant, the equal second favourite for the Magic Millions Guineas, will run in a 1050m-trial on the Randwick course proper.

She cemented her claims for the other $2 million race on the Magic Millions program with victory at the Wyong meeting over Egyptian Symbol.

The Bjorn Baker-trained Egyptian Symbol is the other Magic Millions Guineas second favourite with the pair at $6 behind the Darren Weir-trained Mahuta ($3.80).

Egyptian Symbol has already gone to the Gold Coast where she ran third in Saturday's Group Three Vo Rogue Plate.
