Diamond Oasis runs like bat out of hell

Saturday 26 December 2015, 4:44pm

Sydney gelding Diamond Oasis has sped to a comprehensive win in the the Bat Out of Hell Handicap at the Gold Coast.

Saturday's race is one of only a few over 900 metres and trainer Joe Pride found the perfect vehicle for the sprinter who also has a 955m-win at Moonee Valley on his record.

Ridden by Dwayne Dunn, Diamond Oasis ($4.20) finished strongly to beat Gojo Mimo ($7) by 1-1/4 lengths.

Diamond Oasis has now won metropolitan standard races in all three eastern states and took his total prize money to $459,000 with his seventh career win.

Pride sent Diamond Oasis to fellow trainer Bryan Guy's stable on the Gold Coast hinterland, to be readied for the race.

"He arrived in great condition. Joe did all the work, all I did was feed him and saddle him. I think Diamond Oasis will probably go home tomorrow," Guy said.

"Joe told me he would win on his recent trial and he proved a good judge."
