John Messara reappointed to racing board

Thursday 10 December 2015, 2:32pm

John Messara has been reappointed as Racing NSW chairman for another three years alongside two new female directors announced by deputy premier and racing minister Troy Grant on Thursday.

Grant confirmed Messara and Russell Balding had retained their respective positions on the board of Racing NSW with Balding to take on the role of deputy chairperson.

Ken Brown and former deputy chair Naseema Sparks will make way for Saranne Cooke and Jennifer Owen.

The appointments follow the recent introduction of legislation into state parliament which will give the NSW racing industry wagering tax parity with Victoria and an additional stream of funds.

"I have faith in the board to guide Racing NSW through this exciting time, ensuring the

money is invested wisely in order to grow the sport for the benefit if all race goers," Grant said.
