New Group Three winner for Tavistock

Tavago as a yearling

Tavago, a three-year-old bred, raised and sold by Cambridge Stud, looked a genuine Derby prospect with his storming victory in today's Fasttrackinsurance Wellington Stakes-Gr.3 (1600m) at Otaki.

Trained by Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young, Tavago (Tavistock ex Sara Ann, by Stravinsky) came from off the pace with a well timed run to snatch victory in the hands of Danielle Johnson.

The gelding was having only his third start, having run second and first at his previous two outings.

Tavago was sold by Cambridge Stud at New Zealand Bloodstock's 2014 Karaka Premier Sale for $60,000.

From the second crop of Tavistock, Tavago joins the Victoria Derby winner Tarzino as new Group winners for his sire this season.

Tavistock is now the sire of 11 individual Stakes Performers.
