Look To The Stars to rebound at Rosehill

Thursday 24 September 2015, 3:01pm

Clarry Conners isn't deviating from his plan to run Look To The Stars in the Group One Flight Stakes despite the filly's bewildering first-up performance.

The three-year-old finished last on her return in the Furious Stakes after she was slow to jump, refused to settle and spent most of the race fighting jockey Luke Tarrant.

"I don't know, she was just off that day," Conners said.

"She came out with her head in the air and she just wouldn't settle back off the pace."

Conners has tweaked some gear, removing the filly's crossover noseband while adding earmuffs.

He is prepared to rule a line through her Furious run and is heading into the Listed Reginald Allen Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday confident Look To The Stars can redeem herself enough to confirm plans to back up in the Flight Stakes.

"She's a funny filly, a bit of racing doesn't hurt her," Conners said.

"Her coat is coming out all the time and she's doing well at home. I had some blood taken and everything was alright there.

"She's just got to get a nice position in the run."

Look To The Stars brings strong autumn and winter formlines having beaten Japonisme in her maiden win in March before heading to Brisbane where she won the BTC Sires' Produce Stakes and was Group One placed behind Press Report in the JJ Atkins.

She has a tricky draw at Rosehill in gate 10 but Conners is banking on top jockey Hugh Bowman to overcome it.

"I'd like to have drawn closer. The only thing in her favour there is she's got the best rider on and hopefully he can slot in somewhere," Conners said.
