Beau Tirage to end preparation in style

Tuesday 22 September 2015, 3:09pm

Beau Tirage will seek to end his campaign on a high at Warwick Farm in his last run before a stint in the spelling paddock.

The three-year-old sprinter stoked the ambitions of trainer Keith Dryden with back-to-back wins in Canberra and a maiden city placing at Canterbury.

So much so, Dryden wants to set Beau Tirage for race during Canberra's Black Opal Stakes meeting in March.

"We'll put him in the paddock after this, to give him a break," Dryden said.

"We'd like to bring him back perhaps for the Black Opal meeting first or second-up, but I'd have to talk to the owners and get through tomorrow first.

"I do expect him to run well."

Beau Tirage will contest the Pro-Ride Handicap (1000m) on Wednesday, testing himself alongside Godolphin's early favourite Mogador.

Dryden admitted Beau Tirage was still short on racing temperament and would wear a nose roll for the first time to help him focus.

"(John) O'Shea's horse is going to be hard to beat," he said of Mogador.

"Beau Tirage has a long way to go. He tends to want to over-race, which is probably a good reason for bringing him back to the 1000 metres.

"He does well in his trackwork so if he can turn that work into race performances, he'll be a good horse."

Stablemates Mister Snitzel and Zoumagic will also race at Warwick Farm.

A son of champion sire Snitzel, Mister Snitzel will make his city debut in the TAB More Than Just Winning Maiden Handicap, while Zoumagic will round out the day's affairs in the Cellarbrations Handicap.

"Mister Snitzel is a bit new to this, but he'll work his way into the race," Dryden said.

"Zoumagic is really consistent for us but if it rains tomorrow she might not go, and I'd start her in Canberra on Friday.

"But she trains really hard and we're proud of her."
