Victoria Pendleton in second race ride

Monday 21 September 2015, 12:13pm

Olympic cycling champion Victoria Pendleton continues her partnership with Royal Etiquette as she bids to go one better on her second competitive start as a jockey.

Pendleton, 34, went close to making a winning debut on the Lawney Hill-trained eight-year-old at Ripon last month when her horse was beaten just a head by Jordaura.

The two renew rivalry in the Betfair Supports Amateur Riders' Handicap at Beverly on Tuesday.

A field of 17 has been declared for the 10-furlong event which will be the last of an eight-race card.

The Hill team has worked closely with Pendleton since the double Olympic champion embarked on a quest to become an amateur rider earlier this year.

Her long-term goal is to compete in the Foxhunter Chase at the 2016 Cheltenham Festival.

Her 'Switching Saddles' venture is in partnership with Betfair. The online bookmakers have provided the fledgling jockey with a team of specialists including Team GB eventing performance manager Yogi Breisner.

Pendleton had her first raceday experience in a charity race in July when she finished eighth aboard the Hill-trained Mighty Mambo.

Britain's most successful female Olympian then gained clearance to ride competitively at Ripon after she was awarded a Category A amateur riders' licence at the end of last month.
