Too Good To Refuse earns Sydney G1 start

Saturday 19 September 2015, 2:09pm

Too Good To Refuse is headed to Sydney for a crack at Group One racing after his easy win at Doomben on Saturday.

Despite having 59kg, Too Good To Refuse outsprinted Arthur Le Roi to win the Brisbane Marriott Hotel Handicap by 3-1/2 lengths.

Trainer Desleigh Forster said provided Too Good To Refuse continued to please her next week he would be taken to Sydney for the Group One Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) at Randwick on October 10.

"I have no worries about him at the 2000 metres as he is such a relaxed horse. The only worry is that it is three weeks between runs to the Spring Champion," she said.

"To be able to sprint like that in the straight with that weight is the sign of a very good horse."

Winning jockey Robbie Fradd was pleased with the win and predicted a bright future for Too Good To Refuse.

"This is a nice horse with a very good turn of pace. They walked in the early stages of the race but he was too strong," Fradd said.

Apprentice Matt McGillivray was quickly in the winners's stall after a four-month disqualification for returning a positive sample to amphetamines.

McGillivray rode the first two winners at the Gold Coast on Near The City and Lofn.

He is set to make his return to Brisbane racing at Doomben next Saturday.
