Bell in top form ahead of Singapore stint

Wednesday 16 September 2015, 5:22pm

Jockey Tim Bell prepared for his upcoming stint in Singapore with a winning treble at Ipswich on Wednesday.

Bell's three winners - Comic Story ($1.60), Sky Spur ($1.80) and Tina Melina ($4.20) - were all impressive.

A premiership-winning jockey Bell, 22, has been granted a permit to ride in Singapore until December 31.

He rode a winner at Kranji when invited to ride at a feature Singapore meeting in July.

"I am waiting for my visa to go to Singapore and hopefully it won't be too far away. I am really looking forward to it," Bell said.

Bell had an armchair ride on the Gillian Heinrich-trained Comic Story which led all the way to win the Labour Day October 5 Handicap (1000m).

"Comic Story has a few tricks and it can be interesting to ride him trackwork but he has got better the more he has matured. He might be ready for something better," Bell said.

Sky Spur came from third last to win the Car Giveaway Maiden (1200m) by four lengths to give trainer Matt Dunn a timely boost.

Dunn is recovering after being kicked in the face by a horse last week.

The Tony Gollan-trained Tina Melina scored her first win in nearly a year in the Free Labour Day Handicap (1000m) to complete Bell's treble.

"Tina Melina won her first two starts and then he didn't come up last campaign," Gollan said.

"But she went well in a recent jump-out after a spell and she is ready to go back to Saturday racing."
