Trainer Desleigh Forster's decision to give possible spring carnival contender I'm Belucci a long spell instead of racing in the winter will be tested at Doomben.

At his only start I'm Belucci came from second last on the turn to run three-quarters of a length second to Craiglea Wandoo over 1100 metres at Doomben on January 31.

By 2010 Epsom Handicap winner Captain Sonador, I'm Belucci makes his return in the Rawgroup Hospitality Three Year Old (1200m) at Doomben on Saturday.

Forster has entered I'm Belucci for the Group One Caulfield Guineas on October 10 and the Group One Spring Champion Stakes at Randwick on the same day.

"First of all we have to see how he races here. But I have the two options and I am hoping he will measure up to one of them," Forster said.

"I have always felt the Captain Sonador breed would need time to show their best and that is proving right.

"The Guineas is at 1600 metres but I am debating whether I'm Belucci would be better at the 2000 of the Champion Stakes," Forster said.

The trainer is a part-owner of I'm Belucci and races him with her two main clients Doug Forbes and Norm Mayne and his family.

"We have been patient with him and hopefully it will pay off. But it will be a test first up at 1200 metres against a handy field," Forster said.

Forster's other promising maiden three-year-old, Cylinder Beach, returned to her stables last week.

Cylinder Beach, fourth in the Group One J J Atkins Classic and third in the Group Two BRC Sires' Produce during the winter, has also been entered for the Caulfield Guineas.

But Forster said he would more than likely be aimed at next years's Australian Derby and Queensland Derby.
