Hi World supported in Memsie betting

Friday 28 August 2015, 6:30am

Punters have been waiting for the rain to stop ahead of the first Group One race of the season, the Memsie Stakes at Caulfield.

Rain fell on Thursday with more showers forecast in the lead-up to the meeting at Caulfield on Saturday.

The scratching of Fawkner on Wednesday after he drew a wide barrier had an effect on early betting and Boban was installed the $4.60 favourite.

He has eased since to $4.80.

New Zealand galloper Volkstok'n'barrell arrived in Melbourne on Wednesday night, but he too has been a little easy, drifting from $8 out to $8.50, but holding down second spot.

The Peter Moody-trained Hi World has come in for support, firming from $10 to $9.

The High Chaparral four-year-old is resuming from a spell after winning three on end in Sydney during the autumn.

Weary and Stratum Star, who gained a start following the scratching of Fawkner, share the next line at $10.

Queensland Derby winner Magicool firmed from $26 into $18 but has drifted to $21 with the support for Hi World.
