Fell Swoop has earned a Group Three test in the Concorde Stakes after a fighting win at Randwick.
Trained by Matthew Dale, Fell Swoop won as the $1.60 favourite by a half length from Music Magnate ($6), with Grand Condor ($21) another 1-3/4 lengths third, in a 1000m benchmark 85 race on Saturday.
Dale said the sprinter was still learning his craft.
"He's an immature four-year-old and hence why we've been very patient with him, just letting him work it out step by step," Dale said.
A $45,000 yearling purchase, the son of Not A Single Doubt now has six wins from eight starts.
"He's got a sensational record and he's still working it out so it's exciting times," Dale said.
"I think a better class of race will suit him now, where they really run along and he can get back a bit further."
Dale said he was more than happy with the gelding's performance and there was scope for improvement.
"You would hope as an odds-on pop you would win a bit easier, but all I can do is worry about my horse," he said.
The Concorde Stakes (1000m) will be run at Randwick on September 5.
