Buffering on target for G1 Moir comeback

Saturday 22 August 2015, 1:32pm

Popular sprinter Buffering is on target for a comeback to racing after breezing through his first serious trackwork test.

Buffering, with Glen Colless in the saddle, finished on level terms with stablemate Hopfgarten at the end of a 1000m exhibition gallop between races at Doomben on Saturday.

Despite being under a strong hold by Colless, Buffering reeled off some impressive sectionals times.

He clocked 33.37secs for his final 600m, 21.74secs for the last 400m and 200m in 11.02secs.

"I'm very happy with that work and I've got time up my sleeve now to prepare him for his first-up run," Heathcote said.

The eight-year-old will resume in the Group One Moir Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on October 2.

Buffering hasn't raced since finishing sixth to Aerovelocity in the Group One Hong Kong Sprint (1200m) at Sha Tin on December 14.

The four-time Group One winner injured his near-fore fetlock which ruled him out of this year's Brisbane winter carnival.
