Oliver set to miss Memsie Stakes day

Wednesday 19 August 2015, 6:16pm

Damien Oliver is set to miss the first Group One meeting of the season after being suspended on two careless riding charges at Seymour.

Oliver was suspended for a total of 11 meetings after pleading guilty to careless riding in the opening race on Multifacets and in the eighth event on Leadfoot on Wednesday.

His ban is due to start after Saturday's Moonee Valley program and run until midnight on September 2.

It means Oliver is set to miss the Group One Memsie Stakes and also the ride on Rich Enuff first-up in a Group Three sprint on the same program at Caulfield on Saturday week unless he appeals against the severity and has the ban almost halved.
