An injury-free Easy Running returns to city racing at Doomben with a second chance at being an open company star.

As a three-year-old Easy Running signalled he could be a future by winning the Listed Mick Dittman Plate and running second in the 2012 Magic Millions Guineas.

But a series of injuries have restricted the now seven-year-old to one win in 22 starts.

Trainer Desleigh Forster said Easy Running had constantly been hit with niggling injuries.

"Finally we decided enough was enough so we retired him. But after six months he was doing so well we put him back in work," Forster said.

"Touch wood since he has been back he has been sound as a bell. It is the first time since he was a three-year-old I have been able to work with him without worrying about injury."

Forster also entered Easy Running for a restricted race on Saturday but decided to put him in the Queensland Home Solutions Open (1200m).

"I don't think there will be as much pressure over 1200 metres and while he won't lead he should be handy to the pace," Forster said.

Easy Running's first comeback run yielded a third behind Rocky King and Seeking More in a 1000m handicap at the Sunshine Coast three weeks ago.

"It was a very good run. I know his second-up record isn't flash but most of the time he has had problems going into the second run back," Forster said.

The trainer also hopes the storm which hit Doomben on Wednesday has taken the hardness out of the track.

"That will suit Easy Running as well and be a bit easier on his legs," she said.

Forster is also expecting a big run from Too Good To Refuse in the Brandons Three-Year-Old (1600m).

"If ever a horse is looking for 1600 metres it is Too Good To Refuse," she said.

"At his last start he had to be scrubbed along to stay on the bit.

"But this time he should be able to jump from the good alley and be able to sit up near the pace."

Robbie Fradd will ride both Easy Running and Too Good To Refuse.
