Robbie Griffiths is enjoying a well-earned break but will be keeping a watchful eye on racing in two states on Saturday.
Consistent mare Nadeem Lass contests the Group Three Bletchingly Stakes at Caulfield while in Adelaide he will have Down The Hatch and Pride Rock line up the Listed Lightning Stakes at Morphettville.
Griffiths' foreman Reid Balfour is banking on Matthew Allen's association with Nadeem Lass to give the mare an edge and help her return to winning form.
Allen has ridden Nadeem Lass in two of her three career victories and partners the mare in most of her trackwork.
He rode her to success at Bendigo in March and was also aboard when she finished third behind Hazard and Miss Promiscuity in the Group Three Proud Miss Stakes at Morphettville in May.
Her form since has been consistent with two seconds at Flemington over 1100m before her last start fifth in the All Victorian Sprint Final (1200m) at Flemington on July 11.
"We just try and run her in all the black-type races that are suitable for her and this at the end of winter is a suitable sort of race," Balfour said.
"The conditions aren't probably in her favour with the higher-rated horses not having to give her too much weight, but what she's got on her side is fitness and she's in good form."
Nadeem Lass is a $26 chance with dual Group One placegetter Lord Of The Sky the $3 favourite over Group One winner Smokin' Joey at $7.
Down The Hatch and Pride Rock are also at double figures in the Lightning Stakes in which the Mark Kavanagh-trained Wild Rain is a $2.55 favourite.
Pride Rock will be ridden by Dom Tourneur who is back riding on Saturday after being sidelined since early June with a back injury.
