Yendall has a small win before RAD Board

Wednesday 22 July 2015, 7:43am

Dean Yendall starts an enforced holiday as the equal leader in the Australian jockeys' premiership.

Victorian-based Yendall heads on the break having ridden 143 winners for the season, sharing top billing with Sydney jockey Blake Shinn.

Yendall had a small win before the RAD Board on Wednesday in having four meetings shaved off a careless riding suspension.

He was appealing the decision and severity of a nine meeting suspension incurred at Mildura after scoring aboard In The Moment on Monday.

While his appeal against the decision was dismissed he was successful in appealing the severity of penalty.

Yendall's suspension starts at midnight on Wednesday and he can now return to race riding at Pakenham on Tuesday.

A winning double at Mildura pushed Yendall to the top of the table with 143 wins and he went into racing on Wednesday holding a half-win lead over James McDonald with Blake Shinn a further half win further back.

While Yendall went winless at Bendigo, Shinn was successful on Painte in the Cellarbrations Handicap (1400m) at Warwick Farm.

Shinn has the chance to take the lead in Yendall's absence with five rides at Gosford on Thursday and six at Canterbury on Saturday.

McDonald, who remains a half-win behind the pair, is not riding at Gosford but has five rides at Canterbury on Saturday.
