Pat Duff to undergo surgery

Veteran trainer Pat Duff was a scratching from Ipswich races on Wednesday after breaking a hip.

Duff, a leading Queensland trainer for four decades and former president of the trainers association, had an accidental fall at home on Sunday.

He was scheduled to undergo surgery on Wednesday.

Duff's smart sprinter Steel Zip did not accept for the Sunshine Coast on Saturday but is expected to contest next week's Ramornie Hcp at Grafton.
