James Doyle rides Brazen Beau in July Cup

Wednesday 1 July 2015, 8:54am

James Doyle is excited to be riding Brazen Beau in the July Cup after giving the Australian colt a work-out at Newmarket.

Doyle, a retained rider for Sheikh Mohammed's Godolphin, worked Brazen Beau over four furlongs (800m) on the July Course at Newmarket on Tuesday morning.

Hong Kong champion Joao Moreira rode Brazen Beau to his two Group One wins in Australia while Craig Williams was aboard when he ran second in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Sheikh Mohammed is now the sole owner of the colt with the lease held by his previous syndicate expiring after the Diamond Jubilee.

"We didn't do anything spectacular but he quickened up nicely from the two (furlongs) and hit the line nicely," Doyle told the Racing Post.

"He's a ride to look forward to, big time.

"He's very relaxed for a sprinter, not a buzzy type and I wouldn't swap him for anything else in the race."

Trainer Chris Waller will return to England on Sunday to oversee Brazen Beau's final week leading into the July Cup.

The colt will stand at the sheikh's Darley Stud in the Australian spring.
