Australian flavour for Diamond Jubilee

Tuesday 16 June 2015, 12:18am

Australian sprinters Brazen Beau and Wandjina are among 19 five-day declarations for the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot on Saturday.

Brazen Beau was seriously considered for the King's Stand Stakes over five furlongs on the first day of the meeting but a dry forecast means connections have been tempted to wait for the longer race.

Wandjina is trained by Gai Waterhouse and has had an unusual prep, running behind Adelaide in the Cox Plate over 10 furlongs last year.

Dermot Weld's Mustajeeb dropped to six furlongs with success first time out this season and looks the leading European challenger.

Aidan O'Brien's Due Diligence was second in the race to Slade Power last year but has only run once since in April, when well beaten.

Eddie Lynam won both Group One sprints at the meeting 12 months ago and this year he has added the smart Moviesta to his ranks, a horse who was placed in the Prix de l'Abbaye last season for Bryan Smart.

G Force remains engaged but has been declared to run in the King's Stand on Tuesday.

Glass Office, winner of the Duke of York Stakes, Tropics and Lucky Kristale, first and second at Windsor recently in a fast time, and the veteran Gordon Lord Byron are all still in the mix.

Ansgar, Astaire, Pearl Secret, Hot Streak, Music Master and Wesley Ward's Undrafted also remain.
