Shamal Wind draws barrier four

Australian mare Shamal Wind has drawn barrier four in the 19-horse field for the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot.

The Robert Smerdon-trained five-year-old is on the fourth line of betting with British bookmakers at 7-1 ($8) but is shorter with the TAB ar $6.50.

The race favourite is Irish horse Sole Power who is aiming at an historic third successive win in the Group One 1000m-sprint on Tuesday (0040 Wednesday AEST).

Australian-bred Hong Kong Star Able Friend is the second favourite for the opening race at the Royal meeting, the Queen Anne Stakes (1600m).

The John Moore-trained Able Friend will jump from gate seven with the favourite, French horse Solow, to start from four.
