The Melbourne trainers' premiership is well within Peter Moody's grasp although he says winning the title for the fifth time is the furthest thought from his mind.

A Moonee Valley treble last Saturday propelled Moody into second place on the premiership table, four behind Darren Weir.

Moody will be in Brisbane for the Stradbroke meeting at Doomben on Saturday but he has 14 runners at Moonee Valley to give him a chance to cut further into Weir's lead.

He said he would love to win another premiership but won't be pushing his Caulfield string any harder than usual.

"If it happens, it happens," Moody said.

"If I was fair dinkum about it I wouldn't have opened a Sydney stable and I wouldn't have had nine horses in Brisbane for the carnival of which six of them were restricted horses that could have been running in Melbourne," Moody said.

Moody said it wasn't ideal to saddle multiple runners in a race.

He will be represented by Kenjorwood, Pyrrolic and Cadillac Mountain in the Dominant Handicap, a race he believes gives him his best chance of a Moonee Valley win.

"Kenjorwood's going super, Cadillac Mountain is ready to win and Pyrrolic is also going super," Moody said.

"I couldn't declare a best chance on the program but I think that would be my best chance of winning a race."

Moody has bigger plans in store for the lightly raced Monteux who resumes in the Dominant Cafetto Handicap.

A debut winner at Bendigo before heading to Sydney, Monteux was a last-start third to Sweynesse in the Spring Stakes at Newcastle last September.

Monteux was also entered at Randwick on Saturday but was scratched because of an awkward barrier.

Moody said there were several options for the three-year-old, including the upcoming Winter Championship.

Brotherly Secret, a horse Moody says has had issues, will also be running at Moonee Valley after being scratched from Randwick.
