The big man looks a horse with a future

Tuesday 31 March 2015, 4:35pm

There were smiles all around the big group of happy owners on course yesterday to witness Man of His Word break his maiden in very impressive style on the Gold Coast.

The $10,000 Magic Millions purchase ridden by Kelvin Wharton, settled midfield after an average getaway but just proved way too strong in the straight, racing very greenly and ducking in sharply though still running over the top of his opposition with a devastating sprint to score a comfortable win.

It was a great show of ability from a horse who's short career has been plagued by his bad racing manners, but who's trial win and debut 3rd at Doomben had stamped him as a horse with a future. Especially once he steps up to the more suitable staying trip that his pedigree suggests he'll appreciate.

He'll now be spelled and gelded before returning with some much higher targets in mind over the Spring.
