Trainer Kelly Schweida believes three-year-old Miss Cover Girl can prove herself a future star if she can overcome a wide barrier at the Gold Coast on Saturday.
Schweida has been increasingly frustrated with his horses drawing wide barriers and the situation with Miss Cover Girl is no different with the filly drawing the outside in the $100,000 QTIS Open Plate (1400m).
"It is starting to get beyond a joke. But I suppose it isn't a total disaster as she will get back in the field anyway," Schweida said.
"Still barrier one would have been a lot better," Schweida said.
Miss Cover Girl has won six of her nine starts and has won three out of three at the Gold Coast.
"The prize money is good, the distance suits her, she likes the track and the race should be run to suit her. Lets hope the barrier doesn't kill her chances," Schweida said.
Michael Cahill has stuck with Miss Cover Girl after riding her to victory in a Doomben benchmark race on February 28.
"Mike was really impressed with her that day. He thinks there is couple of good races in her," Schweida said.
Plans for Miss Cover Girl are up in the air until after Saturday's race.
"The world is her oyster if she races well on Saturday," Schweida said."
"I have been looking at some Sydney races but there are also a lot of good races for her in the winter."
