Aigles primed for Longchamp return

Monday 24 September 2012, 12:12pm

Cirrus Des Aigles is set to return to action in the Prix Dollar at Longchamp on October 6.

Trainer Corine Barande-Barbe reports the six-year-old to be back in fine shape ahead of his lead-up run for the Champion Stakes at Ascot on October 20.

Cirrus Des Aigles was second in the Prix Dollar last year before going on to win the Champion.

After having a successful spring this year with wins in the Dubai Sheema Classic and the Prix Ganay, the gelding has not run since finishing second in the Prix d'Ispahan at Longchamp in late May.

"He is very well and will run in the Prix Dollar before going for the Champion Stakes," Barande-Barbe said.

"He is working well and is back in good form."

Barande-Barbe is to face France Galop this week as investigations continue after Cirrus Des Aigles tested positive for a dose of an anti-inflammatory after the Ispahan.

She strongly denies any wrongdoing and has to be convinced that the sample came from her horse.

"We are going to see France Galop at the end of the week," she said.

"At the moment there is a police inquiry and the France Galop inquiry concludes that it could be that someone did something wrong on purpose because the dose was very high.

"The police and France Galop have been making inquiries about our people who were at the races on the day.

"I have asked for an analysis. It is not in the rules, but it could be after this. They have to make sure the sample is from the right horse.

"When we see France Galop I think they will ask questions and make a decision about whether to disqualify the horse.

"In the rules, if something is found, you have to be disqualified. That is why I would like to be sure that it was our horse's urine. I think rules should be there to check that."
