Cornerstone Stud Announce Zebedee Service Fee

Friday 13 February 2015, 4:14pm

Cornerstone Stud has announced that Champion European Freshman Sire ZEBEDEE, the precocious son of INVINCIBLE SPIRIT, will stand his first season in Australia at a fee of $17,600 inc. GST.

ZEBEDEE concluded 2014 having amassed 32 individual two-year-old winners in his first crop. His best performer to date is IVAWOOD, a Cartier Two-Year-Old Colt of the Year finalist, and one of the favourites for the English 2000 Guineas in May.

Along with winning the Champion Freshman sire title by winners ZEBEDEE was also second in the Overall European Sires list for two-year-old winners. He was bettered only by his fellow Tally-Ho Stud stallion KODIAC who set a new European record for two-year-old winners in a year, beating the previous record of 42 that was held by INVINCIBLE SPIRIT

As a racehorse ZEBEDEE was a six time two-year-old winner who retired with only one loss in his seven start career. His stud future was assured with Richard Hannon training him to take out the Flying Childers (G2) and Molecomb Stakes (G3) double at Doncaster and Goodwood respectively.

“It was becoming apparent that Zebedee was going to be very popular and following the announcement of I Am Invincible’s fee at $55,000 inc. GST we have decided to let breeders know in advance where Zebedee would sit in the market,” said Sam Hayes from Cornerstone Stud.

“The Green Desert / Invincible Spirit line is having a considerable influence on the freshman and two-year-old sire rankings in both Hemispheres. It is very rare to find a stallion with the right bloodlines for your broodmares that can also throw thirty-two individual two-year-old winners,” said Hayes.

Yearlings by ZEBEDEE have sold up to €330,000, £220,000, £210,000, £160,000 and £140,000 and are placed in some of the leading racing stables in Europe.

“A precocious speed stallion with proven results and exciting upside complimented our current roster perfectly. We will never give up on finding another Without Fear,” Hayes commented.

ZEBEDEE will join DALAKHANI, HUSSONET, AMBIDEXTER and GOOD JOURNEY at Cornerstone Stud. Full service fees for all the stallions will be announced prior to Easter.
