Sistonic to make city debut at the Valley

Tuesday 27 January 2015, 2:41pm

Black Caviar's close relation Sistonic will create plenty of interest when she steps out in town for the first time at Moonee Valley.

Sistonic made an immediate impression on debut when she cruised to a 4-1/2 length win in an 1100m maiden at Sale on January 15 with seemingly plenty in hand.

She faces her next test in a benchmark race for fillies on Friday night.

Sistonic is by Black Caviar's sire Bel Esprit, while their mothers are half-sisters.

"She has come through the race well," Tom Dabernig, who trains in partnership with David Hayes, said.

"It's always a big step going from a maiden to city class but I think she's the type of filly that could do it pretty well."

Blocker Dee finished second to Sistonic on debut, three lengths ahead of the third placegetter. He came out and won a maiden at Sale by 4-1/2 lengths on Sunday.

Sistonic is among nominations for the Group One Newmarket Handicap and Group One Australian Guineas which were released on Tuesday.

Friday's race has attracted 26 nominations including 10 last-start winners.

The 955m sprint on the program has attracted 16 nominations including Sistonic's stakes-winning stablemate Tawteen.

The 1000m track record holder Sweet Emily, who has won two 955m races this season, is also nominated and so to is the Brent Stanley-trained Beach Front who currently has the fastest winning time this season in the night racing series of 955m races at the track.
