Hong Kong stayer Dominant will head to Australia for the Sydney Cup and a possible clash with Red Cadeaux.
Racing NSW chairman John Messara confirmed the John Moore-trained 2013 Hong Kong Vase winner was being aimed at the Group One Sydney Cup (3200m) on April 11.
Officials are also trying to entice three-time Melbourne Cup runner-up Red Cadeaux to Australia in the autumn for a possible tilt at the Australian Cup in Melbourne and the Sydney Cup.
Dominant finished fourth in the 2014 Hong Kong Vase in December while Red Cadeaux was sixth.
"The news that Dominant is coming over for the Sydney Cup further strengthens the international competition for The Championships on the back of last week's announcement that four Japanese horses are heading our way," Messara said.
"John Moore is keen for Dominant to run in the Sydney Cup and I believe he is also looking at a start in the BMW as a lead-up."
Moore said there were not a lot of staying races for Dominant in Hong Kong and the prospect of softer ground was also an attraction.
