Millions an option for Lady

Well-known veterinarian Tim Roberts is renowned for his judgement of horse flesh.

His expertise, not just in the veterinary field but also in helping to select sound yearlings at the sales, is sought by many of Sydney's leading trainers.

But it is unlikely Roberts has been under more pressure to get it right than with Saturday's Rosehill debutante Lady Louboutin.

The filly, a $40,000 buy at the Magic Millions Premier Sale, is part-owned by Roberts' wife Cheryl.

Trainer Ron Quinton has no doubt his long-time stable vet would have been extra-particular when selecting the filly.

"Otherwise, he might have been in trouble," Quinton said.

Lady Louboutin finished fourth at her only barrier trial and Quinton expects her to furnish into a lovely filly with time.

She will have 10 rivals in Saturday's Rosehill Gardens Hcp (1100m) and if she measures up, next month's $2 million Magic Millions Classic at the Gold Coast is on the radar.

Owned by three females, Lady Louboutin is eligible for the $500,000 bonus which will be distributed to the first four all-girl owned horses past the post in the 2013 feature.

"She indicated she's probably not a real speedster but she started to stretch out nicely over the last 100 metres in her trial," Quinton said.

"She is a Magic Millions horse and she's owned by a group of ladies which has got us a bit excited.

"Saturday will be telling us a lot of tales but I think next time around she's going to be a lovely filly."

Lady Louboutin will be Quinton's first two-year-old runner this season but he is hoping to take the wraps off a couple more in the coming weeks.

He has two youngsters by Dubawi, the sire of top mare Secret Admirer, along with one by More Than Ready and another by Red Ransom with the latter two to barrier trial on Monday.

Quinton also reported Monton was "terrific" as he continued preparations for a defence of his Group Two Villiers Stakes title.

Monton will be ridden by apprentice Sam Clipperton in Saturday week's summer feature at Warwick Farm.
