Talks continue over TVn/Sky dispute

Racing vision will be available in TAB agencies within the next two days as talks between NSW and Victorian racing authorities continue over the Sky Racing/TVN divide.

Racing NSW chief executive Peter V'Landys said on Monday negotiations to get the vision back to all clubs and pubs were ongoing.

"We have been able to agree to get pictures of NSW and Victorian racing into TAB agencies hopefully on Tuesday, but certainly Wednesday," V'Landys said.

"Most hotels are receiving the signal from Foxtel and we are working on getting it to those pubs and clubs which are not.

"Racing NSW, Racing Victoria and the TVN shareholders will get together again tomorrow."

TVN is jointly owned by the Australian Turf Club, Victoria Racing Club, Melbourne Racing Club, Moonee Valley Racing Club and Country Racing Victoria.

Talks between the TAB-owned Sky Racing and TVN, which holds the media rights, broke down last Thursday week.

On Boxing Day the ATC announced it had split with the Victorian shareholders and would go back to the table with Sky which had been operating on short-term agreements with TVN.

The racing industry relies on wagering revenue, mostly from the TAB, for its income.

RV chief executive Bernard Saundry said Victoria would continue to approach other wagering operators.

Saundry told Melbourne radio RSN it was important that other wagering operators with large customer bases had access to the Victorian product.

"We need to do whatever we can, whether that's vision, data or news, to grow the interest in racing and Tabcorp will benefit from that as will other racing operators, he said.

"I can't influence what New South Wales are doing. I have to focus on what we can do in Victoria as chief executive of Racing Victoria and that is what we'll do with our clubs and our board and get the right outcomes for the future."
