San Nicasio continues Moody winning streak

Saturday 27 December 2014, 3:01pm

Following a double at Sandown on Friday, trainer Peter Moody was back in the winner's enclosure at Moonee Valley 24 hours later.

Trackside for both winners at Sandown, gout kept Moody away when San Nicasio scored a comfortable win in the Chandler Macleod Handicap on Saturday.

Stable spokesperson Steph Little said the stable had a good opinion of San Nicasio who is owned in similar interests to multiple Group One winner Dissident.

"Pete's opinion has been that he's still a couple of preps away from his best so at this stage we'll just go through his classes and hopefully next year we'll be able to step him up to something better," Little said.

Vlad Duric took a sit on San Nicasio as Shaf from Our Kaboom and the jockey's only concern was whether he was going to get a run.

"I was happy when that horse crossed me and it was just a matter of being able to navigate on the corner," Duric said.

"I was able to do that pretty early and luckily I had the horse underneath me.

"He's got gears and he's strong. He's got a nice future."
